Faces of MKE: Stephen Hudson-Mairet

Stephen Hudson-Mairet, Marquette Chair of Digital Media and Performing Arts

Q: You have degrees in chemistry, theatre and education. Do you think chemistry and theatre are equally important in a person’s upbringing or is one more important than the other?

A: “Let’s put it in Jesuit terms: you can chase the big ‘t’ truth and you can chase the little ‘t’ truth. The big ‘t’ truths are much more spiritual, much more humanitarian – the more religious, if you will. Both of (the subjects) chase little ‘t’ truths and big ‘t’ truths but they get there in different ways. (…) Rarely do you see someone praising God in church with a chemistry equation.”
